Learn to fence
westdale fencing club is offering an introduction to fencing program that takes place between 6pm and 8pm on wednesday evenings. this program offers an introduction to foil fencing for those who are new to the sport, and an opportunity for those who have previously fenced to revisit and refine skills, while also developing new technical and tactical skills. during these classes, suitably qualified fencers will be encouraged to test for their white and yellow armbands.
participants will receive instruction from nccp trained instructors in small group classes which maintain a high instructor/student ratio (typically around 1 instructor for every 5-6 students). westdale fencing club will also provide the necessary fencing equipment that is required for the duration of the program - all you need to bring is appropriate clothing (including long trousers) and a water bottle.
dues for the introduction to fencing program are $150 per month, and you will also need to purchase club, provincial and national memberships each year. please note that refunds are not offered for missed classes, nor are we able to offer make-up classes. our introduction to fencing program is set up as a continuous rotating cycle of classes which can be joined on the first wednesday of any month (provided there is space). typically, participants go through the program for at least 3 months to ensure a solid grounding in the basic techniques, before moving on to one of our developmental / competitive programs, though some people stick with the introduction to fencing program for much longer (which is absolutely fine with us!).
if you would like more information, please contact email@example.com.
to pre-register, please fill out the form below and someone will get back to you soon (pre-registration is strongly recommended as we do limit our class sizes to ensure a decent instructor/student ratio, and so often have a waiting list). note that these classes are suitable for fencers over 11 years. younger fencers should try our youth classes.
