Winter Policies

Bad weather

Please be mindful of the weather, and always err on the side of caution – if you’re worried that the roads might be unsafe, please stay home. We’d much rather see you safe than have you take a chance.

Cancelled practices

If the weather or forecast is bad, please check the club website before heading out. If we need to cancel a practice, it will be announced on the club website before 4pm on weekdays, and before 8am on saturdays. Many of our coaches and athletes travel in from out of town, and our priority is keeping everybody safe.

Coats

Please use the coat hooks in the corridor for heavy coats as the stage area gets very crowded.

Footwear

Please note that whilst the weather is bad, no outdoor shoes are permitted on the stage or the gym floor. The floors become very slippery when they get wet, so we request all fencers and their families remove any external footwear in the corridor. You are welcome to bring dry shoes or slippers to wear.  Note that you will not be permitted to participate in practices if you do not have dry footwear. Please help us keep our club safe for everybody.

stairs and doorways

Please make sure that the stairs and doorways are kept clear of equipment, coats and footwear.

Sickness

If you or your children are sick, please STAY HOME. What might be a small sniffle for you could be a life-threatening event if someone picks up a bug and takes it home to a sick relative with a compromised immune system. If in doubt, please err on the side of caution and stay home. If you show up to a practice sick, you will most likely be sent home immediately (this includes parents / drivers / siblings!). Again, please help us keep our club a safe environment for everybody.

Thank you for your cooperation.
